Golden State Warriors’ trade targets: Aron Baynes

Aron Baynes was near the top of the Golden State Warriors’ free agency wish list this offseason. And, they weren’t alone, as the Toronto Raptors quickly bought into giving Baynes a two-year $14 million dollar contract after the big-man had the best year of his career.

Baynes averaged 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds on the bench in Phoenix. He became a quality floor-spacer and rebounded the ball at a high-rate. Unfortunately, his numbers have dipped since going to Toronto, playing a smaller role and seeing his averages decrease across the board.

Yet, the fact remains that Baynes can step out behind the 3-point line and provide spacing at the center position. He may be in a shooting slump now – but his consistency last season leads us to believe he will snap out of it at some point.

Baynes is a weathered veteran who can play minutes for the Warriors – who are currently lacking in this department. Bringing a guy who understands his role and can be relied on to make good decisions with the ball could make a huge difference for this team.
