Mychal Mulder

Having dropped out of the rotation recently, Mychal Mulder was thought to be one of the players potentially waived if the team were to target another center. It’s tough to envision Mulder being let go as he’s been playing excellent basketball.

Mulder may not be the most productive player, but he has been extremely efficient. Against the Mavs on Saturday night, he had eight points on 3-for-5 shooting and 2-for-4 from downtown. Bazemore and Mulder scored 28 of the team’s 35 bench points.

The 6-foot-3 26-year-old Mulder has lost opportunity since last season, but most players that were on that 15-win haven’t seen the same type of volume shooting. His dip from 11.0 points to 3.7 points per game is more indicative of how he’s used than an actual slump in his play.

Mulder’s percentages have actually seen a nice uptick. He’s shooting over 48 percent from the field and over 44 percent from three, both career highs. Yes, this is just his second season, but Mulder has been playing extremely well off the bench.

He deserves a roster spot and should also be getting more minutes than he currently is.
