Golden State Warriors’ standouts: Jeremy Lin

Long, long ago, Jeremy Lin took his first step towards NBA stardom by signing with the Golden State Warriors in 2010. He was waived after 29 uninspiring games, later picked up by the New York Knicks and… you know what happened next.

Since ‘Linsanity’ exploded in 2011, Lin has had an underwhelming career. This isn’t to say he’s been bad, Lin has averaged 12.0 points and 4.3 assists since his breakout season. However, he shoots a poor 43.3 percent from the field and doesn’t bring quality defense to the table.

The problem with Lin is that he isn’t very consistent. Everything he does is either really good or really bad. You aren’t going to walk away from a game thinking “wow, that was a decent game from Lin.” It’s more likely you’ll be stunned by how bad (or good) he plays on any given night.

This is definitely something that will hurt his chances of making it back to the NBA, at least on the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs aren’t interested in hit-or-miss players right now – they need consistency. At this point, it’s hard to imagine Lin becomes a new player. But, he’s certainly surprised the world before.

He impressed in his first game with Santa Cruz, scoring 18 points on 4-of-9 shooting and dishing 5 assists. He’s 32 years old now, already past his developmental prime, but maybe his experience will help him complete a last-second push to return to the NBA.
