Golden State Warriors’ targets: Jalen Brunson (Trade)

The Dallas Mavericks have had some troubles early on this season, but Jalen Brunson hasn’t been one of them. The young guard is carving out a role for himself as an efficient shooter who can distribute the ball.

Brunson, a third-year player, is averaging career-highs in points, rebounds and assists while shooting the best splits of his career. He’s one of just a few players shooting in the 50/40/85 range this season and he’s a bright spot on the Dallas bench.

There’s no doubt that Brunson would be the best guard the Warriors could offer to replace Stephen Curry. And, with his experience in the Mavericks’ fast-paced offense, he would be an easy fit in the Warriors’ system.

The biggest problem here is Brunson is on contract for two more seasons and there’s no chance Dallas decides to buy him out. This means if the Warriors want Jalen, they need to trade for him. Luckily, his contract isn’t too expensive and the Dubs can easily match salary with a number of less-significant players. Throw in some draft capital and Golden State has a chance to pull this off.
