Golden State Warriors: Increase Jordan Poole’s minutes

Last season, after a stint in the G-League, Jordan Poole returned to the Golden State Warriors to finish out his rookie season on a high note. Could the same happen this year?

Poole has spent most of his sophomore season dwelling on the bench or developing in the G-League. He has been on fire for Santa Cruz, averaging 22.4 points on 45.1 percent shooting. His hot-streak translated to his first game back in Golden State, posting 26 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the 3-point line.

He still hasn’t solved most of his biggest issues. Poole is an underwhelming defender and turns the ball over at a high rate. At just 36.7 percent shooting from deep on the season – it’s hard to justify keeping him in the game unless he’s having a particularly good night.

Still, Poole has flashed his ability to heat up and score in bunches. Furthermore, he’s a surprisingly crafty playmaker when he has the freedom to create for others. Though, this often comes with the price of more turnovers.

It’s clear that Poole has some untapped potential. With the Dubs desperate for more scoring on the bench, why not give him a shot and see if he can earn more consistent minutes? I’d expect to see more from the 21-year-old soon.
