Golden State Warriors’ targets: Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie was a hot topic before an injury sidelined him. He’s been mostly forgotten about in the whirlwind of NBA news but it’s still possible the Brooklyn Nets look to flip him for additional depth.

The Nets don’t need any more ball handlers, that’s for sure. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors are practically begging for someone other than Stephen Curry to create shots for the team. Sounds like a perfect swap, right?

Dinwiddie is set to make $11 million this season and $12 million the next. This makes him an easy target as the Dubs can match salary by including Kelly Oubre. While it might take additional assets such as a draft pick or more players – this seems like a potential trade the Dubs can work with.

Having Dinwiddie as a sixth man would be great. He’s comfortable leading the second unit and has a talent for scoring off the dribble. He’s also a 6’5″ guard, lending the possibility for some interesting three-guard lineups once Klay Thompson is back.

I don’t think the Warriors should swing big for anyone at the deadline this year. Regardless, if Dinwiddie is available, this is their best option.
