Reason No. 1 why the Warriors should pursue Myles Turner: His defense

The main reason teams should look into adding Myles Turner is his defense. Turner is that good on the defensive end, and he’s everything the team hopes James Wiseman can transform into.

Turner had led the NBA in blocks twice in his first six seasons in the NBA. He managed to do so last season in which he sent back 3.4 shot attempts per game. He also recorded 0.9 steals per game in 31 minutes.

Having a player of Turner’s caliber is huge, especially considering the team doesn’t quite know what level Thompson will return at. If Thompson isn’t the same on-ball defender he was in 2019, Turner’s presence could be vital for the team.

Golden State hasn’t had a dominant shot-blocker that can consistently score for years. Combining the two strengths of Turner’s game should help the Warriors rise back into championship contention.

It’s not paramount that they add a shot-blocker, but there’s no denying that having a shot-blocker that isn’t an offensive liability could be a difference-maker in the Dubs contending or not.
