Golden State Warriors would have benefited from Dennis Schroder

“Bet on yourself,” has become a common phrase these days. But, we often fail to mention that betting on yourself can go wrong. Very, very wrong. In the case of Dennis Schroder, missing out on $100 million dollars for a measly $5.9 million is a tough pill to swallow.

Schroder elected to pass on the chance to sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers in the hopes of pursuing a higher contract in the offseason. However, his underwhelming postseason performance led to the market being surprisingly dry for one of the better guards in the league.

For quite a long time, Schroder was available for the MLE. He wound up signing with the Boston Celtics in a one-year deal. It is expected Schroder will be looking to right his wrongs and earn a bigger contract next year by balling out this season.

This is what likely made the Golden State Warriors cautious of signing Schroder. A selfless team looking to win a championship as a unit does not have much interest in a player who is only looking out for his best interest.

Nevertheless, having Schroder be an extra ball-handler and playmaker would have been great at such a low price for Golden State.
