Golden State Warriors player most likely to relapse: Kevon Looney

The Golden State Warriors clearly don’t mind being shorthanded at the five. They are, more than likely, going to enter the season with Kevon Looney and James Wiseman as their only two traditional centers.

Wiseman should get the starting gig, although he may not be ready for the start of the season. The 6-foot-9 Looney offers good size and terrific offensive rebounding.

However, he provides little athleticism offensively, isn’t a great roller off the pick-and-roll, and doesn’t give much rim protection. While it’s nice having him as a big man and rebounder, playing small-ball lineups should be what head coach Steve Kerr opts for more often than not.

That’s why he added Porter Jr. and Iguodala. On top of those two, the Warriors signed 6-foot-10 sharpshooter Nemanja Bjelica. Bjelica is a much better offensive player.

With Looney averaging just 4.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, I’d expect his minutes to take a hit when this team is at full strength. He offers limited upside compared to a player like Toscano-Anderson.
