The 2021-22 NBA season has not even begun and the Golden State Warriors are already stumbling out of the gates. Vaccine controversy, lingering injuries and personal predicaments have the team looking bumpy heading into the preseason.

The Golden State Warriors are not starting off on the right foot as the lead-up to the 2021-22 NBA season has been anything but smooth.

This season was always going to come with growing pains. An influx of youth and new veterans was going to take some time to properly mix with the rest of the roster. However, recent events have not made this any easier.

At this point, we have all heard about Andrew Wiggins and his refusal to get the vaccine. Until this is resolved, Wiggins will not be able to fully compete with the team — an obvious issue.

Meanwhile, Draymond Green is set to miss the start of training camp with a personal excuse. This is not a huge deal as I am more than confident Green has a valid excuse to be away from the team but it certainly does not help with everything else that is going on.

The Dubs are going to be strung thin entering preseason. James Wiseman and Klay Thompson are still recovering from their respective injuries while both Green and Wiggins will be away from the team.

This comes with a potential blessing. More time for names like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody to get over their rookie speedbumps could bode well for them in the long run. And, the roster is still full of vets like Andre Iguodala and Stephen Curry himself who will help steer the ship during these first few weeks.

Even so, this is not the start to the season anyone was hoping for. The Warriors will not be at full strength for the first portion of the year and at this rate, it could be a rough debut against the Los Angeles Lakers.
