3 easy, internal ways to fix the Golden State Warriors
Find a better role for Warriors guard Jordan Poole
Jordan Poole kicked off the season as the starting shooting guard for Steve’s Kerr team. His explosiveness, combined with his abilities as a secondary playmaker and as a capable scorer made him the third scoring wheel behind Curry and Wiggins.
Poole logged excellent stats as a starter, scoring more than 18 points a game while providing playmaking and spacing. Another important aspect of his game was his ability to go to the free-throw line, where he is the best in the league, shooting 92.5%.
After Klay’s return, Poole’s game has gone missing. He seems disconnected in the offensive flow, and since returning from the All-Star Game, he is shooting an abysmal 18.8% from three and 34.3% from the field, scoring only 10.3 points per game.
It is clear that the Warriors need Poole to be a factor coming off the bench.
Maybe simplifying the offense, as in 2020-21 NBA season, he was providing 0.99 points per possession as a pick and roll ball handler. Furthermore, he is a great off-ball rim finisher providing 1.33 PPP off cuts.
One thing is for sure: Draymond Green’s return may give Jordan Poole a shy of relief.
