Warriors player that’ll be key to victory: Draymond Green

Draymond Green has yet to play against the Denver Nuggets, one reason the Warriors are just 1-3 straight up against the Nikola Jokic-led side this season. Green is arguably the best defender in the league, and he believes he’s the best to ever take the court.

He’ll now get the opportunity to prove that claim, taking on the reigning MVP in the first round. While Green’s shooting numbers are down this season, he is averaging 7 assists per game to go along with 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds.

On the defensive end, Green averages 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. Those will be even more important against Denver, but a major ignitor of the offense, Green must limit his turnovers which he has 3 per game of.

Green had a 4.6 defensive box plus/minus, which, while it didn’t lead the league, was higher than the two other times he did lead the NBA. He’s that dominant defensively, and hopefully, he’ll be able to tame Jokic.

It’s not just against Denver. Green may have Deandre Ayton, Giannis Antetokounmpo or Kevin Durant, and Jared Jackson Jr. or Karl-Anthony Towns in his future. His dominance all postseason will be of utmost importance.
