The Golden State Warriors are going to have some tough decisions to make in the near future, but thankfully, that future can be put on hold so basically the same roster can attempt to repeat as NBA Champions.

The Warriors held their third seed in the Western Conference down the stretch of last season because of Jordan Poole, who averaged around 26 points per game over the last few weeks with two-time MVP Stephen Curry sidelined.

The Golden State Warriors are going to hit a wall financially next offseason, and at that point, they’ll have to decide how they want to shape their future.

Now, Poole will be playing on a team option before becoming a free agent next offseason. He’s undoubtedly going to see a hot market and could commend a nine-figure contract. The Warriors drafted the 23-year-old with their 2019 first-round pick.

However, one could argue the Warriors only made and won the NBA Finals because of Andrew Wiggins who stepped up as a key rebounder and scorer, shooting a career-high 39.3% from deep this season.

While the extension situation hasn’t been figured out with Draymond Green yet, considering Curry’s note on how he feels the Big 3 is a package deal, that contract is probably going to get completely eventually.

What’s going to be telling is if the Warriors opt to sign Wiggins or Poole and also what size of extension they give to Green. Klay Thompson will be up for a contract extension as well.

Both Green and Thompson have one more season on their contract following next year. Green does have a $27 million player option for next season though, but he’ll be 33 years old at that time and unlikely to find a max deal elsewhere.

Poole, Wiggins and Green should all be prepared to make their case this upcoming season, with the former two needing to showcase their long-term upside. The case can be made for both being the right decision, but the Dubs can’t keep all three.

The Warriors have the future in their hands, but with James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga also eventually needing deals, that should be considered when looking into what the length of Green and even Thompson’s next contracts look like.
