How Klay Thompson can improve for Warriors: Stay aggressive

Klay Thompson returned to the court for the first time since the 2019 NBA Finals.

Thompson was out the entire 2019-2020 season with that torn ACL, and then, while rehabbing to get on the court for the 2020-2021 season, Thompson tore his Achilles which kept him out the entire season.

He finally was able to get on to the court in 2022.

The five-time All-Star guard showed flashes of his past self and had several massive performances in close-out games during the playoffs. If there’s something Thompson needs to focus on in the 2022-2023 season, it’ll be staying aggressive.

Thompson, for this time in his career, shot under 40% from deep, and his three-point attempt rate was the highest of his career, topping 52%. He needs to focus on getting to the bucket and not settling for threes, although he is one of the best shooters in the history of the game.

While he did extend his streak of scoring over 20 points per game to now six straight seasons, his shooting was the second-worst of his career and three-point shooting the lowest. His two-point shooting ranked sixth of his ten seasons.

Keeping the pressure on and finding his rhythm while being able to not fully rely on his shooting could be how Thompson takes his offensive game to the next level next season.
