January 5 officially opened the period where NBA teams can sign free agents to 10-day contracts. With a spate of recent injuries and an open roster spot, the Golden State Warriors are one team who could utilize a 10-day deal.

Players can sign a total of two standard 10-day contracts with a specific NBA team. Not only does it provide some depth and injury cover for the team, but also provides the player with an opportunity to showcase themselves to the team or any other potential suitors around the

The Golden State Warriors’ lack of center depth could lead them to considering the plethora of big man options on the free agent market.

Kevon Looney is once again proving a reliable presence in the paint for the second-straight season, with the previously injury-riddled 26-year-old having not missed a game, regular season or playoffs, since the 2020-21 season.

A knee injury meant James Wiseman missed the entire of last season, with that halt in development making him an undependable option for Steve Kerr at this point. The former number two overall pick has shown more positive signs recently, but a minor ankle sprain has again proved a setback.

Outside of Looney, Golden State have largely had to produce make-shift options at the center position across the last 18 months. Nemanja Bjelica, previously a power-forward with other teams, was a backup center in the Warriors system last season. The same can be said for JaMychal Green this season, though his underwhelming play may lead to Golden State wanting an upgrade anyway.

There’s plenty of free agent options the Warriors could look at who have extensive NBA experience, including the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge, Ed Davis, Paul Millsap, Tristan Thompson, Enes Freedom and Hassan Whiteside. There’s also former Warrior DeMarcus Cousins who Griffen Gamble looked at here yesterday.

However, there’s three alternative options who may present as the best options for a Warriors team needing solid interior defense and rebounding for 8-10 minutes per game.
