Spurs may have quietly revealed Warriors miss on another free agency target

This doesn't suggest a move to Golden State is on the cards...

The Golden State Warriors are still looking to round out their roster in free agency, but they may have quietly missed out on another reported target after a curious video posted by the San Antonio Spurs in recent days.

The Warriors have been linked to veteran big man Kelly Olynyk who remains unsigned in free agency, yet the 35-year-old has been in France working out with the Spurs after finishing last season with the team.

Spurs may have quietly revealed Warriors miss on Kelly Olynyk

San Antonio posted a video on social media sharing highlights of the workout hosted by superstar center Victor Wembanyama. The clip included fellow young players Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant, All-Star guard De'Aaron Fox, former Warrior Harrison Barnes and the recently signed Tobias Harris.

But hidden within the video was Olynyk's presence despite not being contracted with the team after completing a two-year, $26.25 million deal. Did Wembanyama just invite Olynyk to train with the Spurs anyway? That would be a little strange if he's set to be on a different team (potentially the Warriors) next season.

San Antonio do have one open roster spot in which they could sign Olynyk, but why would they have not done that already if that was the plan? The Spurs signed former Pacers guard Taleon Peter to a training camp deal on Friday, potentially setting up a training camp battle for the 15th roster spot.

Perhaps this is also an indication that Golden State's interest in Olynyk has been a little overblown, having been linked to the 13-year veteran again on Tuesday by NBA insider Jake Fischer on his Bleacher Report live stream.

Warriors have had another summer missing out on targets

Golden State now have a lengthy history of targeting but failing to acquire big-name players via trade, but that's now extended to free agency where they're yet to sign a single rival player and are instead bringing back largely the same roster.

The Warriors most notably missed on LeBron James despite their long-running pursuit of the superstar forward, while Anfernee Simons is another who rejected them in favor of a move to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Olynyk might be the next to turn down an opportunity in the Bay Area, with this video suggesting he's more than open to a return to the Spurs despite averaging less than nine minutes in 42 games last season and failing to be part of their playoff rotation.
