Per the official team release on Monday, Santa Cruz Warriors guard Elliot Williams was named the NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played between Dec. 14 through Dec. 20.

Williams, 26, has been phenomenal in the three games Santa Cruz has played this week, helping to lead the team to a 2-1 record. Averaging 30.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists on 83.0 percent shooting from the field over the past three contests, this is the first time Williams has earned Performer of the Week honors.

On Dec. 15, Williams recorded a near double-double with 29 points and nine assists while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor (10-for-20) in a 108-101 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers’ D-League affiliate, the Canton Charge. Three nights later, Williams was able to get a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds in a 99-93 victory over the Bakersfield Jam. The following night, he scored a D-League regular season career-high 40 points on 16-for-24 shooting in a 117-107 loss to the Idaho Stampede.

Williams was most recently named the NBA Development League Player of the Month for November, during which time he ranked third in the NBA D-League in scoring (28.1 points per game) and assists (6.6 assists per game) while adding in 8.6 rebounds. On the season, Williams is currently averaging a league-leading 29.6 points on 51.8 percent shooting to go along with 7.0 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.3 steals.

Williams was selected as the second overall pick in the 2014 NBA D-League draft by the Santa Cruz Warriors. Through his success with Santa Cruz, he earned three call-ups last season with the Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets, and the New Orleans Pelicans before returning to the Santa Cruz Warriors. In the same year, Williams was named a 2015 D-League All-Star, as well as 2015 Finals MVP after helping to lead Santa Cruz to their first NBA D-League Championship.

Prior to his time with the Warriors, the 6-foot-5-inch guard out of the University of Memphis was selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. Plagued with a number of long-term injuries, Williams was unable to establish himself in the NBA, spending short stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers before declaring himself eligible for the 2014 D-League draft.

After cutting their regular season winning streak at five games following their loss to the Stampede, Williams and the Warriors look to start a new winning streak starting with a win over the Los Angeles D-Fenders this Tuesday.
