The Golden State Warriors went into the All-Star break as the best team in the league. Here are some midseason awards for the collective and individual.

The Golden State Warriors have played 56 games. They’re a little past the midpoint, but the All-Star break serves as a natural break and is considered a halfway point. So, for the sake of this piece, they’re roughly halfway through the season.

Thus far, they’ve played pretty good basketball, for the most part. They’ve had their ups and downs as they work out their chemistry. At times, they’ve looked dominant and, at other times, they’ve looked vulnerable.

More from Blue Man Hoop

The Warriors went 73-9 last season and looked completely unstoppable. Stephen Curry had broken basketball in a way that no one else has before. They were about to waltz to their second straight NBA championship.

Curry slipped on a wet spot and sprained his MCL. This, ultimately, was the biggest factor in their failure to finish off the dream season. They allowed the Cleveland Cavaliers to win three straight games, including an incredible Game 7, and fell short.

The Warriors re-tooled by signing Kevin Durant as well as a new bench. They became the greatest team ever on paper. But the games aren’t won on paper.

The Warriors are 47-9, matching last season’s loss total already. They’re the best offensive team and the second best defensive team in the league, according to Basketball Reference. They’re getting it done on both ends.

Golden State hasn’t been perfect. They still have a lot of work to to get where they want to be. But they’ve established themselves as the team to beat.

There’s been a lot going on around this star-studded team. Here are some midseason awards for the collective and individual.
