The Golden State Warriors are on the verge of having a perfect playoffs. They just need to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on more time.
The Golden State Warriors are up 3-0 in the NBA Finals. They won in amazing comeback fashion in Game 3. Kevin Durant hit the biggest shot of his career with less than a minute in the fourth quarter.
Durant pulled up for a cold-blooded three-pointer right in LeBron James’ face. He put the Warriors up by one in what will surely be a signature moment for Durant. It was the biggest blow to James the Cavaliers who fought incredibly hard throughout the night.

Kevin Durant’s shot and then the Warriors’ subsequent defensive stops and free throws did not save the series. Golden State would still be up 2-1 with a chance to take a very specific lead on Friday. Then they could finish it out at home.
Kevin Durant’s shot combined with everything that happened in the seconds after preserved the game. But, still, that doesn’t do the significance of the moment justice. It’s bigger than just one game.
Kevin Durant’s shot and the Warriors’ ability to close out the game preserved the chance to make history. Golden State is on the brink of doing something that has never been done before. They are one win away from having a perfect postseason.
No team in league history has won as many consecutive games in the postseason as the Warriors have. They are currently 15-0. On the brink of losing their perfect postseason, Durant saved them.
Of course, winning a championship is the ultimate goal. Whether it takes you four Game 7’s or 16 total games, it doesn’t matter. A ring is a ring.
But after winning 73 games in a season and collapsing after building a 3-1 lead, going 16-0 would be the perfect way to bounce back. That would cement this unit as the greatest team ever assembled.
The Warriors can’t get too caught up in it. The goal is to win a championship. It doesn’t matter if they win in four games or seven games. As long as they get it done.
Finishing off a perfect postseason would be incredible. It would, by far, be the most impressive playoff run in the history of North American sports. The Warriors are close to immortality.
The Golden State Warriors aren’t just on the verge of making history; they are within striking distance of never-before-seen perfection.
