Kevin Durant was seemingly mad after Peyton Manning cracked a joke at his expense. He tweeted that he wasn’t, but he deleted it right after.

Kevin Durant had a front row seat to his own roast. Long after the 25th ESPYS awards ended, the talk was about host Peyton Manning’s joke about his June 2016 decision. Admittedly, it was a good joke.

Social media loves to make fun of Durant. So when Manning joked that the 2017 Finals MVP wanted to join the dominant U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team, people loved it. But the joke wasn’t even the most notable part of the exchange.

After the former Quarterback cracked his quip, the camera panned to Durant. The superstar forward just looked ahead, seemingly unamused. The camera stayed on him as he looked extremely unhappy.

He held his hand over his mouth and leaned in his chair. Then Manning talked to 2017 NBA MVP Russell Westbrook. The camera then panned to him and he, too, covered his face.

Twitter continued to mock Durant for his inability to take a joke. The snake was a poor sport. The cupcake couldn’t handle the heat.

He tweeted this after the show:

But ESPN’s Chris B. Hayes broke some interesting news the following morning:

Despite that story, many didn’t buy it. They thought it was a cover up for Durant being a poor sport. Though the signs were there.

Durant tweeted this the day after, but deleted it after four minutes. It was so fast that BlueManHoop wasn’t able to get a screenshot of it. I, personally, can confirm that it is a real tweet because I have Durant’s notifications on. I got the update, but when I opened it the Tweet had been erased already.

Luckily, Twitter user @JFerraraF18 got it.

Durant continued to defend himself, but thought better of it. Still, the Internet is a wild place. You can’t pull a fast one on Twitter.

Tweets can be deleted. Accounts can be deactivated. Screenshots last forever though.

It’s unknown why Durant deleted his tweet. Perhaps he got a call from ESPN executives saying that he should take it down. Or maybe he felt that it was unimportant.

Either way, Durant is really good at social media and getting people are worked up. This is just another instance of it happening.
