Golden State Warriors: Grading each player in the first round
Kevin Durant: A
This comes to no surprise: Kevin Durant earns an A for carrying the Golden State Warriors throughout the first round. Without Curry, KD expectedly put up big scoring numbers, averaging 28.2 points on 48.0 percent shooting.
In addition, Durant averaged 8.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists. He shot a solid 94.6 percent from the free throw line, but a poor 25.0 percent from behind the arc.
He was also a team-high +10.6 by the end of the series.
With Curry coming back in the second round, it’ll be interesting to see what adjustments KD will have to make. The offense will definitely flow a bit smoother and much more entertaining, and I’ll be glad to see the team come away from using KD at point.
The one thing that won’t change: how unstoppable KD can be offensively. His midrange shot at the end of Game 5 to seal the game was the perfect reminder of why the Warriors went after him in the first place.
