Golden State Warriors: Grading each player in the first round
Nick Young: F
Nick Young barely played in the first round, which came as somewhat of a surprise to some fans. The only time Steve Kerr opted to play him was when the team really didn’t have any other choice.

And for good reason: not only has Swaggy P consistently had trouble executing plays on both ends of the floor, but he’s seemingly lost his shooting touch at this point in the season.
Considering his reputation, it isn’t surprising to see him forget a play or easily allow a player to blow by him; so obviously, putting him out there with a team that’s JUST re-finding their identity would be counterproductive.
What’s most troubling is the fact Young isn’t doing exactly what the team brought him in to do, and that’s get buckets.
After shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 48.0 percent from behind the arc to start the season, Swaggy P’s efficiency numbers have slowly dropped month-to-month. To end the regular season in April, Young shot 33.3 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from behind the arc.
In five playoff games against the Spurs, Young averaged 1.2 points on 25.0 percent shooting overall and 28.6 percent shooting from three. In addition, he was the only player to play in all five games and come out with a negative net rating (-15.4).
As I stated in my piece concerning whether the team should cut Omri Casspi or Nick Young: Casspi did a number of different things well, whereas Young only really does one thing well. When Young isn’t doing that one thing, he’s completely unplayable, so that’s why he gets an “F” for the first round.
