Golden State Warriors: 5 things Dubs need to do to win Game 2
3. Get The Chef started early
As Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area so expertly recalled, Stephen Curry almost always bounces back strong after missing extended time due to injury, so there’s reason to suspect he may have a historic performance Tuesday night in Oakland.
Poole specially named three instances in which Curry came back from injury to put on a show: the infamous “I’m back” game in Portland in 2016, the 29-point performance against the Atlanta Hawks back in March and the 38-point Christmas Eve game this past December.
As impressive as each of those comeback games may be, what Poole didn’t explicitly mention was each of those performances started rather slow. Only after the first quarter did Curry step into the microwave to heat up, leading the Warriors to eventual victories.
That said, I’m an impatient man, and I’m sure we can all agree when I say we’ve waited long enough for The Chef to return. I’d suggest the Warriors make it a point to help brush off Curry’s rust early and feed him the ball.
As good as Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson have looked to start the postseason, New Orleans will find itself in deep waters once the long-lost Splash Brother starts to bring the rain.
