Golden State Warriors: 8 things to worry about vs. Rockets in WCF
CP3
Worry Level: Low
But if there’s one guy I’m comfortable having Stephen Curry defend, it’s Chris Paul.
CP3 isn’t the same dynamic point guard we saw in Los Angeles, but I’ll admit he’s still a force to be reckoned with. This year in the playoffs, he’s averaging 21.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 2.1 steals in 33.3 minutes.
He’s also been incredibly efficient: not only is he shooting 48.5 percent from the field, 37.7 percent from behind the arc and 87.9 percent from free throw line, but he’s averaging only 1.9 turnovers (3.37 assist to turnover ratio — 18th in NBA Playoffs).
This is CP3’s first time in the Western Conference Finals, which is saying something considering he’s been in the league for nearly 13 years. He doesn’t have the best postseason track record, nor does he have a great record vs. Curry (14-20 all-time record).
According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, Curry reportedly thought out Paul as a mentor when the two used to work out together. Years later, it’s safe to say the student has surpassed the master.
