3 reasons the Golden State Warriors should sign Jamal Crawford
Isolation scoring
Jamal Crawford can score on his own. Much like Stephen Curry, Crawford can be isolated on a defender and break down his opponent with an array of moves. That’s exactly what the second unit will need at times too.
For his tenured 18-year career, Crawford has had just 29% of his two-point field goals assisted on and just 75.3% of his three-point field goals assisted on. For those that might understand the uniqueness of those, the isolation-king himself, Kevin Durant, has had 49.4% and 74.6% assisted on respectively.
Meaning, Jamal Crawford, who once averaged 20 points per game during his prime, has since cooled off scoring-wise. Don’t let that confuse you with the idea that he can’t score. Per 36 minutes, Crawford averaged 17.9 points for the Timberwolves last season. And, he still does that without anyone helping him.
The 38-year-old might be a defensive liability, but he knows how to score, and if you combine both him and Jacob Evans on the defensive end, you get the offensive and defensive balance that would be ideal for any second unit.
