Golden State Warriors will have league’s best backcourt soon

The Golden State Warriors will have a three-headed monster in the backcourt very soon.
It’s only a matter of time before the Golden State Warriors finally get to see what Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell can do together.
Thompson has been sidelined since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals while Curry has missed most of the season with a hand injury. Curry is expected to return before the season. We likely won’t see Thompson until after the summer.
But, when these three star-guards are able to play together, they will instantly become the best backcourt in the league. Curry and Russell alone have a strong case for the top spot in the league.
Curry is a two-time MVP and has been the best point guard in the NBA for half of a decade. He averaged 27.3 points per game last season and is ready to reclaim his crown.
Meanwhile, Russell is a young and budding star. The 23-year old has averaged career-highs in back to back seasons and is proving to be an elite decision-maker and isolation scorer.
Before Curry’s injury, he combined for a strong 50 points and 19 assists with Russell in the team’s first win of the season.
Once Thompson is thrown into this lineup, things will become very scary for opponents. The 3-point shooting of Thompson, Curry and Russell will put unbelievable pressure on defenses while Russell’s playmaking ability makes every player on the court a threat.
The Warriors will have an improved version of the three-headed monster lineup the Oklahoma City Thunder have been showing. Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander currently have the highest Net Rating of any three-man lineup in the league.
We already know that Curry and Thompson are a match made in heaven. The splash brothers have dominated the league for years now. Russell will only make this dynamic stronger as another primary ball-handler looking to set up his two historic shooters.
Golden State will do this three-guard lineup even better with three star-caliber players. The NBA should be very concerned with the comeback the Warriors are about to make once they have a fully healthy squad. This team will be competing for championships again in no time.
