Aron Baynes

The Warriors will to perfect the small-ball lineup in order to enhance the spacing for Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

Next season, four of the team’s starters are, in theory, set. Andrew Wiggins, Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green will all start. The fifth starter is expected to be Marquese Chriss.

Even if Aron Baynes wouldn’t start, he’s arguably the most quintessential, low-profile fit in the upcoming free agency market. Baynes has completely transformed his game, making himself more marketable as a solid outside shooter.

This season, Baynes was forced to step up with Deandre Ayton suspended. He did just that, almost doubling his previous career-high in points per game. Baynes, 33, average 11.5 per game. He also made 1.4 threes per game on 35% from downtown.

Baynes took more threes in his last 42 games with the Suns than his other 400 plus, spanning seven seasons in the NBA. Shooting well from the field and downtown is ideal for Golden State and what makes Baynes such an attractive target.

He’s not a terrific defender, but he can switch onto guards adequately. For the mid-level exception or a minimum-value deal, Baynes would be a low-profile addition that could put the Warriors in title contention.

Baynes, Oubre Jr., and Rubio would all be a welcome addition for the Warriors.
