Golden State Warriors NBA Draft targets: Jalen Green

Outside of the Cade Cunningham, who is the consensus No. 1 pick right now, no other player in the 2021 NBA Draft oozes more fluid, natural talent than Jalen Green.

Green has been standing out his whole life. He was the top-ranked player on ESPN’s 100 and has been shining with the G-League Ignite against high-level competition. He’s a springy 6’5″ guard who can elevate on command and surprise opponents with his quick-twitch speed.

Through four games, Green is leading his team with 18.8 points per game. He’s converting over 50 percent of his attempts – looking his best when he’s attacking the rim and using his bounce to finish over defenders.

Some things holding Green back include an infatuation with contested pull-ups (a common theme with modern prospects) and a lack of playmaking. Though he’s a skilled shot creator and has shown some chops for passing, he has room to grow in both departments. He’s shooting a solid 35.3 percent from deep but currently commits more turnovers than assists.

It’s easy to see how the Golden State Warriors would use Green in their pace-and-space system. He’s a natural scorer who can elevate everyone around him if he grows into a better playmaker.
