Golden State Warriors’ targets: Andre Drummond

The Cleveland Cavaliers have reserved Andre Drummond to the sideline in hopes of finding a suitable trade partner for the All-Star center. But, after weeks of searching, the Cavs have had no luck. Could a buyout be coming soon?

Team’s across the league are hoping Drummond hits the market. The streaky center has the potential to make a big impact on a title contender but isn’t worth his current price tag. In the event he becomes a free agent, loads of teams will go after Drummond.

The issue with Drummond is in his shot selection and inconsistent effort. He’s averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds, but as someone who has watched every Cavs game, the stats don’t tell the full story.

One reason Drummond may be erratic is his circumstances. He’s never been on a winning team and he’s never had a great coach or mentor to keep him in check. Perhaps he would buy into the Warriors’ system and finally play to his strengths in Golden State.

There’s no question that a fully engaged Drummond on a reasonable contract would be a difference-maker for the Dubs. It could be a longshot – but there’s no sense in not considering it if he hits the market.
