Golden State Warriors’ trade targets: Aaron Gordon

I recently wrote about the reports that stated the Golden State Warriors are showing interest in Aaron Gordon. I concluded that the cost of trading for Gordon likely isn’t worth it. Yet, he’s still one of their best options – which says something about the type of talent available at the deadline this year.

Gordon isn’t a bad player. He’s a quality athlete with floor-spacing capabilities at the forward position. With improvements to his playmaking and more effort on defense, Gordon can be a pretty solid addition to the Dubs’ frontcourt.

Again, the cost of flipping Kelly Oubre Jr. and others to match salaries is where the problems emerge. While losing Oubre wouldn’t hurt as much once Klay Thompson returns, I think the Warriors would be better off having Oubre on their bench over Gordon – for defensive reasons.

Even so, there’s no denying Gordon would be a fun piece next to the Splash Brothers. His near league-average shooting from deep would help provide more spacing as well with Draymond Green and Eric Paschall both struggling from behind the 3-point line.
