Popular trade target the Warriors should avoid: Ben Simmons

Some of the Golden State Warriors fanbase wanted Ben Simmons this offseason. It would’ve been a trade that included former No. 1 overall pick, Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins has played incredibly well, scoring 22 points in the first half of the Dubs’ last game against the Wolves. He was 9-for-9 from the field. Wiggins has been able to take his game to the next level with Golden State.

Along those lines, Simmons has yet to play this season. He’s been dealing with personal issues, and it’s been an ugly situation in Philadelphia. The 76ers, behind MVP candidate Joel Embiid, have been among the best teams in the East.

Simmons is a three-time All-Star and one of the best on-ball defenders in the NBA. Too bad the Warriors play team defense at the highest level and don’t necessarily need a top-tier on-ball defender.

Without shooting to help their offense, Simmons wouldn’t serve much of a purpose for Golden State, especially at his cost. The Sixers were virtually wanting five first-round picks for him. That’s just not going to happen, and the Dubs need to avoid this situation.
