Golden State Warriors need Willie Cauley-Stein’s size

Willey Cauley-Stein is currently on a 10-day deal with the Philadelphia 76ers but would be eligible for the playoffs if he is not picked up full time by Philly. In this case, the Golden State Warriors should be monitoring the situation.

Pros

WCS addresses what is probably the Warriors’ biggest need right now: size.

Cauley-Stein is a true seven-footer with upper-end athleticism that allows him to run from rim to rim. He found success as a lob threat next to Luka Doncic and could do the same in Golden State with Stephen Curry and eventually, Draymond Green.

In the 2019-20 season, Cauley-Stein played 41 games for the Warriors, averaging 7.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. Though, he never got to share the court with Curry.

Cons

Despite his size and athleticism, Cauley-Stein has been unable to find a consistent home in the NBA. He comes with flaws, such as a restricted offensive game and occasional defensive lapses that lead to unnecessary fouls.
