Carmelo Anthony is a useful veteran scorer

It is a hypothetical pairing that I have personally been pushing for all summer.

Carmelo Anthony’s twilight years have not been everything the former superstar could have asked for — but a final shot at winning a title as a role player should be all it takes to motivate him.

It’s quite possible Melo will go down as one of the more underrated, forgotten stars of his generation. For a long time, Anthony was an unstoppable scorer who dominated for over a decade.

After a brief stint out of the league, Carmelo embraced his role as a bench player and has been quietly good ever since.

He’s still a minus-defender and has to check his ego from time to time. But, Melo averaged 13.3 points and 4.2 rebounds last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, shooting 37.5% from the 3-point line and playing 69 games.

If the Dubs need a guy who can score, rebound, and most importantly, stay healthy, Carmelo seems like a good option.
