Former Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga signed a two-year, $13 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
It’s absolutely laughable that the 23-year-old had to sign for that little when the Warriors were offering him contract extensions much richer last summer, but Kuminga has his agent Aaron Turner to blame for that.

Turner is known for being a rabble rouser. Most agents prefer to work behind the scenes on behalf of their clients, but Turner puts everything out in the open. He made a very public spectacle of negotiation talks with the Warriors last offseason which people in the front office must have bemoaned, and he repeatedly claimed that Kuminga was being misused by Golden State and criticized head coach Steve Kerr.
One quote he gave to the San Francisco Standard's Danny Emmerman last year is so damning that it’s laughable.
“This is whats funny to me. Everyone like, ‘Aaron [expletive) up.’ I’m like, hold on. Did I fumble something? Because fumbling something would mean like next year, if JK is making $10 million a year you could say I fumbled by not taking [three years for $75 million]. You can’t say I fumbled because I didn’t fumble anything yet," Turner said.

Well, Aaron, fumble you did. You fumbled, tripped while fumbling the ball, and split your pants just for good measure.
However anyone feels about Kuminga and the way he was used on the Warriors, it’s just nice to see a guy like Turner end up with egg on his face. His tactics and immature nature make you wonder why any NBA player makes him their representative.
It comes as no shock that he hurt Victor Oladipo in contract negotiations in a similar fashion, before the two-time proceeded to drop him as his agent. Do not be surprised at all if Kuminga ends up dropping Turner soon because he absolutely screwed him over in all of this.

One can’t help but feel bad for Kuminga. He’s obviously a solid player and everyone saw the potential he had when he was with the Warriors, but when you have people around you feeding a narrative that you're a star and that your coach is holding you back, it’s just a recipe for disaster.
Perhaps everyone will have to eat crow if Kuminga turns into a star in Minnesota, but he was basically the same exact player he was in Golden State after getting traded to the Atlanta Hawks. If he can’t prove his superstardom there, maybe it's just never meant to be.
The Warriors just have to be happy the Kuminga headache is now far away. The constant consternation about him and the trolling from Turner really just went on for too long, and Kerr returning to the fold may have a good deal to do with not having to constantly worry and be asked about the former seventh overall pick.
It’s always nice when an arrogant and overly confident person gets their comeuppance though. Hopefully this serves as a lesson for Turner and other NBA agents that this is not the right way to go about business.
