Honorable Mention: Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson has been pretty solid to start the season, averaging 21.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 blocks on 52.5 percent shooting from the field and 47.6 percent shooting from behind the arc.

Against the Raptors, Thompson finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and one game-winning block in 38 minutes. He shot 9-of-15 (60 FG%) from the field and 4-of-6 from behind the arc (66.6 3P%).

During the preseason, Thompson averaged 4.0 assists. Last season, he averaged 2.1 assists. Against the Raptors, his five assists definitely supports the notion that Thompson is a much-improved playmaker.

The best part about Thompson’s performance, however, has to do with his donation campaign concerning the North Bay fires. Scoring 22 points tonight, Thompson has raised $22,000 for the Redwood Credit Union’s fire relief efforts, and his campaign is sure to raise even more money over the course of the next two home games.
