The expertise of Eric Paschall

The youth movement in San Francisco has been detailed on more than one occasion.

No Iguodala, no Livingston, no Durant. The influx of inexperience in this side was necessary, and with Steph out for some time and Draymond battling his own injuries, the learning curve will be much, much steeper.

The driving force of this side has been Eric Paschall. It has comfortably been Eric Paschall.

Capped off by a magnificent 36 and 13 against Portland, Paschall has been a revelation in the embryonic stage of his career. He has reached Steph Curry levels of rookie performances within seven games.

More from Blue Man Hoop

I was wrong about him. I believed that he would be a solid performer, having spent four years in college maturing as a player and as a person. His maturity, however, has surpassed any reasonable expectations from the 41st pick of the draft.

On Monday, when a relatively untried team was looking to hang with a Lillard-led Portland side, it was Paschall who rallied the troops with a dominance that oozed confidence, punctuated by a devastating put-back dunk after a 12-0 run in the clutch.

He has also taken to post-game interviews in an assured style that gave the impression that he had been doing this for years.

Coupled with a skillset that comfortably translates to the NBA, Paschall has a head for this stage. Stepping into the shoes of a leader so early on would not have been expected, but Steve Kerr must be encouraged by what he has seen.

Emerging from the rubble of a ruined Warriors season, Paschall still has more time to lead with Green sidelined, and so we may see more lightning performances from him.
