In the midst of a career year

The Golden State Warriors watched D’Angelo Russell explode against the Timberwolves earlier this season, posting a career-high 52 points. That was his high, but it certainly wasn’t his only memorable performance.

Russell was averaging 23.6 points per game. Even more impressive, Russell was averaging 3.6 threes per game, shooting over 37% from downtown. As the main offensive threat, Russell was a dynamic force for the Warriors.

Playing in just 33 games, Russell missed time with injuries which was not reminiscent of his time in Brooklyn where he played 81 games last season. That may have contributed to some disinterest in the guard, but either way, he was exploding onto the scene.

D’Angelo Russell has trended upward every season of his career. Each of the five seasons, Russell’s points per 36 minutes continued to improve, showcasing the work that Russell is investing in his game.

His impressive dominance becomes even more notable when you understand hat Golden State was his third team in five years, and now Minnesota will be his fourth team in five years.
