It’s a deal the Golden State Warriors would work hard to avoid, but let’s consider what a swap featuring Klay Thompson would look like on paper.

Firstly, we have to acknowledge that trading the best possible partner for Stephen Curry is a tough blow. Thompson played his role to the highest degree and we just aren’t sure if James Harden could match that productivity.

However, it’s possible Thompson never returns to being the player he once was. Back-to-back devastating injuries as he enters his 30s is a tough thing to deal with. This deal could be better for the Dubs long-term.

You might think that giving up Thompson, Eric Paschall and multiple picks for Harden is way too much. Keep in mind, the Warriors will be competing with offers from the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets, who are sure to throw various picks and players at the Rockets. If Ben Simmons is on the table, Golden State will have to up the antie.
