Aron Baynes

One player I wanted the Golden State Warriors to add this past offseason was former Suns’ center, Aron Baynes.

With the Suns, Baynes was capable of doing a bit of everything and filled in for Deandre Ayton very well. A veteran and former NBA Champion with the Spurs, Baynes averaged 11.5 points per game last season, double his previous average.

He was also shooting from deep at an elite rate. Sadly, Baynes’ numbers haven’t kept up in his move to the Raptors, a team that’s won just two games through their first ten. It’s been surprising how bad the Raptors have been.

For Baynes, he’s averaging under six points per game on under 38 percent from the field, both drastic dips from a season ago. Baynes also isn’t shooting well, averaging under 20 percent from deep.

With Boucher stepping up and Pascal Siakam dominating the frontcourt, the opportunity hasn’t been there for Baynes. That’s why he could more likely be a possible buyout candidate. His shooting and size are why Golden State should take a look.
