Golden State Warriors positives: Kelly Oubre hitting his stride

The 2020-21 NBA season couldn’t have started any worse for Kelly Oubre. He began the year shooting an unbelievable 0-for-17 from the 3-point line and was an absolute dud on offense.

Oubre’s inability to hit open shots was hindering the Dubs’ entire scheme. The pain of watching him clank open shot after open shot was unbearable and opponents quickly began overloading on Stephen Curry since Oubre was a non-threat from deep.

Thankfully, Oubre has finally looking a bit better on offense. He scored a season-high 23 points in a win over Los Angeles and he’s been averaging 16.5 points over his last four games. While he’s still underwhelming from behind the 3-point line, he has improved ever so slightly, clipping over 30 percent on his last 23 attempts.

Oubre should be able to continue building his confidence and eventually hit at a respectable rate from deep. The Warriors will be able to take their next step forward once this happens.
