Warriors player competing for his next contract: Kent Bazemore

A veteran shooting guard, Kent Bazemore has nicely stepped up as Oubre Jr. has missed time with wrist soreness. Bazemore is looking like he’ll hang on to the starting shooting guard role for the short-term future.

Bazemore is averaging 6.7 points per game, shooting a career-high 44.1 percent from the field. He’s also hitting over 40 percent from deep for the first time in his career which, while playing alongside Curry, is important.

Bazemore has started ten games this season and hit at least two triples in seven of them. He’s no longer a real playmaking threat, but if Bazemore can serve as a competent defender and a three-point shooter, he’ll be just fine finding a role with the Warriors.

The Warriors need players to step into roles like that.

While there’s no telling if he will re-sign, the Warriors should welcome Bazemore back if he doesn’t get any better offers. Still playing for his NBA career, Bazemore could get a contract valued a bit higher if he thrives to end the season.
