Video: Mark Jackson Preaching Loud And Proud On An L.A. Sidewalk

Mark Jackson is a deeply religious man, as we witnessed during his tenure as head coach of the Golden State Warriors.

Now that he’s been relieved of his coaching duties, however, he’s found himself with some free time during the offseason, which means videos such as this will surface online:

Yes, that’s Jackson, preaching loud and proud on a sidewalk in Reseda, a neighborhood in Los Angeles. Jackson is a pastor at a church in Reseda, and resides down in SoCal.

He was celebrating “World Vision Day” in the video above, where he repeats “You can’t serve two masters” before launching into a several-minute sermon.

Jackson tweeted about it afterwards:

And although some of us may have thought Jackson was making a fool of himself, he obviously doesn’t:

I have nothing against Jackson being a devout Christian, and I admire his dedication to his faith, but one has to speculate that this act may have worn thin on the Warriors’ executives. Owner Joe Lacob made clear his desire to have a coach that lived in the Bay Area, but Jackson did not want to relocate from Los Angeles, where his church is. Jackson also made some questionable remarks on Jason Collins when Collins came out as gay.

I say Mark Jackson gets to laugh at you critics. Because the Golden State Warriors are paying for his ability to stand on a street corner and preach this year, not just for this one day event.
