Stephen Curry‘s path to superstardom has been well-documented, and now he’ll add to his popularity by having his own shoe released.
Curry will have his own signature shoe released by Under Armour next February, according to ESPN, and here’s a peak at what it could look like. Any athlete that has his or her own shoe is a huge deal, and it just shows that Curry’s fanbase and following has extended beyond any other player on the Warriors in recent memory.
“I’ve seen it here and there with updates and things like that,” Curry told Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group back in June. “It’s supposed to stay on the low until it’s ready to be released, but that’s a dream come true to be able to be a part of the design, the development of your own shoe that’s going to be your inspiration.”
Speaking of Under Armour, Kevin Durant reportedly has a huge offer from the company, trying to lure him away from Nike. Durant and Curry were at a promotional event for NBA 2K15 today, and Durant shared a funny story about when he first met Curry in Charlotte at 10 years of age.
“I thought he was white,” Durant said of Curry, drawing laughter from the Warriors’ guard.
