Warriors Continue Road Trip, Take On Hawks: Game Preview

The Golden State Warriors will continue their Eastern road trip in Atlanta tonight as they take on the 18-14 Hawks in what should be a very competitive game.

The Hawks have been stellar at home this season, hoisting a 12-4 record, while the Warriors have been struggling on the road thus far.

The Warriors will need to bring the defensive firepower tonight if they want to walk out with the win because the Hawks know how to spread the defense and dish the ball to their shooters. The Hawks currently lead the NBA in assists and have witnessed the emergence of Jeff Teague in guiding the offense with 17.0 points and 8.2 assists per game. Teague is a crucial piece to the Hawks’ offensive execution, so it will be important for the Warriors to cloud the passing lanes when the Hawks attack the basket and execute their offense.

It will be expected for the Warriors big men to have an immense impact in grabbing boards, as the Hawks have struggled in that department, ranking 23rd in the league in rebounds. This should lead to many second chance shots — especially three-pointers — for the Warriors and opportunities to kick the ball out after defensive rebounds so they can play their uptempo style.

The prediction for tonight is the Warriors will win and the final score should likely be in the hundreds for both squads. The Warriors are healthy right now, and playing very good basketball that the Hawks should not be able to overcome. The Hawks’ record is a little deceiving by playing the terrible Eastern Conference teams, so I see no hiccup in the road for the Warriors.

They should continue to roll on as they sustain their momentum into the next road game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
