Kevin Love Trade Rumors Update

Here is a quick update on the latest Kevin Love rumors.  According to CCNE.com, the Boston Celtics are moving on from the Kevin Love talks:

“There’s no waiving of the white flag just yet, but the Boston Celtics appear to be ready to move on from their pursuit of Minnesota star Kevin Love”, league sources tell CSNNE.com.

“The more teams step up and show interest in Love, the further Boston falls in the pack,” a source said on Wednesday. “Danny’s a smart guy. He knows when to keep pushing for something and when to move on.” Source

Now Cleveland’s latest offer via ESPN:

“Cleveland’s offer, sources said, would be headlined by No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, 2013’s No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett and a future first-round pick, with one source close to the process insisting Tuesday that the Cavs are destined to acquire Love. At least one more player might have to added to the package to satisfy NBA trade rules.”

From the very same article, Chicago’s offer:

“Sources say that the Bulls, though, have re-entered the race and would appear to be the biggest threat to the Cavs thanks largely to the Golden State Warriors’ resolute unwillingness to add longtime Wolves target Klay Thompson in any deal.”

“Although the full extent of the Bulls’ offer wasn’t immediately known, it is believed Minnesota would seek a package from Chicago featuring forward Taj Gibson and defensive ace Jimmy Butler in addition to other assets. The Bulls shelved their Love interest while trying to sign Carmelo Anthony away from the New York Knicks but, according to sources, have re-emerged as contenders.”

Those other assets may be Doug Mcdermott, Nikola Mirotic and Tony Snell. However my opinion is that Chicago is simply trying to up the ante for Cleveland. The Bulls already have Pau Gasol, and Joakim Noah. Gasol and Love play the exact same positon. Not to mention, giving up Taj Gibson could hurt the team chemistry. I personally see this as a move by Chicago to keep Cleveland from gaining a big three.

Now the Warriors offer:

“Golden State already dangled an offer of Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes and David Lee. All three are quality NBA starters and very proven.  Initially, reports said Thompson was off-limits, but the Warriors eventually made him available.  Barnes would likely also include the addition of Draymond Green if he were the choice of the Wolves.  But still, all three players available are starters; and even Green started in the playoffs.”

Conflicting reports on Klay Thompson. Is he off limits or not? I personally would love (no pun intended or attempted) to see the duo of the splash brothers continue to grow. If Thompson was included in the offer, I believe this deal would’ve been done a long time ago. So hopefully Thompson is not included.

Now, we just sit, wait, and watch as the leaks continue to pour in.
