Earlier this week, we published an update on the incessant rumors surrounding Kevin Love, so here’s another one with recent developments of the Timeberwolves’ star:
Requesting a trade to the Cavs?
According to Sam Amico of FOX Sports, Love may be requesting a trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
If the report is indeed true, it wouldn’t be surprising, considering that Love would be playing with LeBron James, and James has apparently asked for the Cavs to trade for Love. It does, however, mean that all of Love’s other suitors — including the Warriors — can kiss their chances of landing him goodbye.
One has to wonder if, at some point, the Warriors will go all in and put Klay Thompson on the table, knowing that it may be their last shot to lure Love to Golden State. Love requesting a trade to Cleveland would give the Cavaliers a ton of leverage in trade talks, and Flip Saunders may try to swing a deal with another team as a last resort and convince Love to go there instead.
Pulling out of Team USA
In a surprising move, Love pulled out of Team USA’s training camp this summer because of all the trade speculation. As a result, he can avoid the media and even more speculation about his future.
Knicks make an offer
The Wall Street Journal reports that the Knicks made an offer to the Timberwolves for Love, but it was promptly denied. The Knicks offered Amar’e Stoudemire, Iman Shumpert, and Tim Hardaway Jr., which is more of a pipe dream offer than a legitimate one.
So the summer of Love drags on with no end in sight.
